Ribbon Cutting

In April, ABE Painting, (Tim and Randy's company) joined the Camber of Commerce. This gives them certain perks like advertisement, networking, discounts, etc. The Camber told them to let them know when they had a good job in town and they would come and do a ribbon cutting and have their story and picture in the newspaper. The crew has been painting a very old fancy mansion in Carthage called the "Phelps House." It is primarily a museum now, but it is used for very fancy parties, receptions, teas, and weddings. Check it out: http://www.phelpshouse.org/.

Anyways... the chamber came and did a ribbon cutting last Monday. The story has not appeared in the newspaper that we know of yet, but they emailed us a picture, so here is a sneak preview. (By the way, Quil was the star of the show!)

The wives' job was to provide refreshments!

Starbucks or McDonalds?

I am just curious to know what your thoughts are about the new McCafe. My husband got one of their vanilla lattes and he thought they were really good. They are more mild than Starbucks. Is it really worth paying $4.00 a cup at Starbucks if McDonalds is just as good? Does status have anything to do with it? Just curious to see if any one has tried it and how it rates in comparison to Starbucks. Please comment!

More Wedding Photos

Good News! We have our wedding pictures back from the photographer! We had some of our picures taken separately of us before the wedding and the ones of us together after the wedding. These are some of the ones taken before the ceremony.

Royal Gorge

On the third day of our honeymoon, we enjoyed a quick visit to Royal Gorge.

1053 in the air! The whole bridge is constantly bouncing and swaying softly...which makes it a bit freaky to walk, especially when you look down through the cracks between boards.

I forgot my pole anyway....sure would take a long line!!!

Riding the incline railway to the canyon floor. This picture taken with camera hanging out for a better view down than we could get from our section of train.

Looking back up the incline railway.

There is a blue (pictured above) and a red train going up and down opposite directions continually. The two tracks share the center rail and the trains can only pass in a short section where the tracks separate just enough to get by halfway down/up. It takes six minutes up or down, and they are synchronized perfectly, (I think the trains are attached to the same cable) and always pass in the wide place and stop at the opposite ends (upper or lower stations )exactly the right moment. Really neat!!

The area at the canyon floor platform above the river was packed with people. There is a railway running through the canyon beside the Arkansas River. A tour train stopped at the landing and 150 people decided to get of there and ride the incline railway up. Thus the platform was full of people waiting for a ride up. As soon as we got off, we were in line to get back on....instead of ten minutes looking around and heading back up, we stood in line for an hour.

So I took pictures of course.

Looking up at the bridge.

The train track

Daring whitewater rafters

The cable car (aerial tram, gondola, whatever you want to call it) making its way across the sky above us. Our admission ticket included a ride, but we didn't have time after waiting so long to get back up.

Thanks for your patience with our slow blogging. Blog-able time is a rare commodity. Much more fasinating reports are on the way! When I have time, that is.

We're in the newspaper!

Stay tuned for more pictures from our honeymoon...

The first segment of our honeymoon

The first three nights of our honeymoon we spent about a mile and a half from the chapel where we were married in Red Feather Lakes, CO. We rented this cute little A-frame cabin. The whole upstairs is an open loft with one end the master bedroom, and the other end a half bath with a Jacuzzi. The downstairs had another bedroom, a full bath, a cute little kitchen, and a living room. We really enjoyed our time in this Alpine Hideaway.

Wedding Pictures

Here are a few pictures from our wedding. Hopefully there will be more coming later. These are borrowed with permission from Leah Cross' blog.
Isn't He Sweet!
On our wedding day the weather was just perfect and the beautiful Colorado scenery made for some great looking pictures!

The back of my dress

My mom made the cake and it turned out so beautiful! It was all white and white flowers with green leaves and accents. The fountain finished it off and gave it a really elegant look.

REI

Two days before our wedding we were shopping for a new pair of good shoes for my (at the time) Bride-to-be. In the midst of the expedition, I found myself with this scene in front of me.

This is the incredible climbing wall at the Recreational Equipment Inc. Flagship in Denver, CO. Now, I don't personally have any fascination with climbing walls, but I had for years heard tell of this amazing store and felt compelled to take a picture. I didn't know what else to do with the picture except share it with you here. Take it as you will.

More interesting pictures to follow...

Keep checking our blog

We are indeed happily married, home, and busy in Joplin, MO. The extreme absence of posts has no legitimate excuse. The main reason has a lack of blog-able time (which I doubt will change), and a consistent Internet connection (which has changed as of today).

We have lots of pictures, stories, and thoughts, which potentially could be posted. No promises, guarantees, or anything of that sort, but our intentions are good and that should count for something.

Love and Blessings to all.

Happy Birthday Emily!

Emily's birthday is tomorrow on St. Patrick's day, so Happy Birthday to Emily! She wanted to have strawberry cupcakes with Pink frosting. Yesterday Emily helped me make them. We couldn't wait to have them on her birthday so we each had one last night. They tasted so yummy!
The very pink cupcakes!

We haven't given Emily all her presents yet but she got a bike and I gave her this fabric for a dress. I wanted it to be a surprise but Mother used to make a practice dress for the wedding. It turned out really cute.

Progress!

Wedding plans are coimg along, slowly but surely! We ordered the invitations a few weeks ago and they came the other day! Now comes the sl0w, painful process of addressing, stamping, and mailing them. We have also been working on the favors for the wedding. We have 144 done but we need more than that!

Here is a picture of the favors! The little tag on them says:
"A spoonful of kisses from the Mr. and Mrs."

Tim's mom is busy making the dresses for the bridesmaids. She has two almost done. I am having five attendents and a flower girl, but we only have to make five of the dresses. It is only 118 days left 'til the wedding! Sometimes I wonder if we are going to get it all done and other times July 11 seems so far away. I am confident with the Lord's help we will get everything to come together!

New Piano!

Tim's mom has been shopping on craigslist.org for furniture and household items etc. to furnish our house in Joplin. It is a site with all kinds of classifieds. Yesterday she came across one that had a piano and some other furniture for sale, so we went to see about it. We bought the piano and a chair from them for a really good price! The piano is a Whitney piano made by Kimball and the recliner chair made by Lane.

This is me playing the piano in the back of the truck and Tim sitting
in his new recliner. (Doesn't it look like a nice man-sized chair!)

The beautiful music in the back of the truck inspired the yard guys,
Jeff and Jason, to play some guitar music.
